Fun With Music Theory Class
Does your child like to experiment on their instrument and ask questions about the things they learn in their lessons?
Fun With Music Theory is the class for them! This ten-month class is designed for young children (ages 8 – 10) who are experienced on their instruments and who demonstrate particular excitement about musical concepts like scales, chords, or playing by ear. The class provides a place for these children to learn among peers with similar interests, and to apply their theoretical knowledge in very practical and musical ways. Each class features a short introductory lesson on a music theory concept, helping students learn to understand and describe why the music they hear works the way it does. After each lesson a game is introduced to help students practice their new knowledge together.
This is a very fun and active class for young students excited to learn more about music. It supports the skills learned in their instrument lessons, and provides a wonderful foundation for the musical theatre writing and band classes offered as they grow older.
