Songwriting Lessons

Have you ever wondered what it takes to write a song?

It’s mostly determination and hard work! If you’re having trouble writing, or having trouble convincing yourself to try, songwriting lessons can help. The song will remain one hundred per cent yours, and all decisions will be left to you. Lessons will provide a structure to make the process approachable for you, and will help you through when you’re feeling stuck. Your teacher will work with you to identify your goals for the song, and will help you notate, record, or perform it when it’s finished.

Songwriting lessons can include a variety of topics, including the following:

  • Chords
  • Chord progressions
  • Melody writing
  • Lyric writing
  • Singing while you play your instrument
  • Creative process
  • Keeping track of your ideas
  • Organizing your notes and voice memos
  • Music notation
  • Audio recording
  • Live performance
  • Lessons can also focus on instrumental composition rather than lyrical songwriting.
