Ear Training Workshop

Do you want to learn more about why your music sounds the way it does? Have you ever listened to a song and wished you could figure out how to play it? Would you like to learn about how music theory connects to the sounds you hear?

Come learn about ear training at the Ear Training Workshop!

Co-taught by two professional musicians, the Ear Training Workshop will teach you to the core skills needed to understand the music you hear. This includes identifying the key of a song, chord quality, chord progressions, intervals, and rhythms by ear. The workshop is open to all musicians aged eighteen and up, and will include group instruction, demonstration, and small-group activities.

By the end of this workshop you will have strengthened your ability to hear and understand musical concepts. You will have also developed your ability to figure out a song by ear, and will have learned how to further these skill in your own practice. Let us help you develop your ear training skills!

Learn to Improvise

Saturday May 2, 2026 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Have you ever wished you felt more comfortable experimenting musically? Do you want to learn how to improvise while playing solo or with others? Do you want to feel confident making choices as you play instead of planning every note?

Come learn how at the Learn to Improvise workshop!

Co-taught by two professional musicians, this workshop will teach you to develop a comfort level with improvisation. You will learn foundational improvisational tools, as well as how to support improvisation as a collaborative player. The workshop is open to all musicians aged eighteen and up, and will include group instruction, demonstration, and both partnered and group improvising practice.

By the end of this workshop you will have a deeper understanding of musical improvising. You will have developed your toolkit of improvisational skills and goals for at-home practice, and will have had multiple opportunities to practice crafting an improvised solo. Let us help you learn to improvise!

Perform Like a Pro

Saturday May 30, 2026 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Does the idea of performing make your hands start to tremble? Do you never know what to say once you’re on stage? Would you like to try performing for the first time?

Come learn about performance skills at the Perform Like a Pro workshop!

Co-taught by two professional musicians, this workshop will teach you to prepare for a performance, work through nervousness, present confidently on stage, and professionally respond to surprises. You will also learn how a sound system works, and will practice your performance skills. The workshop is open to all musicians aged eighteen and up, and will include group instruction, solo practice time, and a group concert.

By the end of this workshop you will understand how to perform confidently. You will have developed your ability to work through nervousness and deal with the unexpected on stage. You will leave the workshop with new performance skills to practice as you continue in your musical journey. Let us help you learn to perform like a pro!
